Upper Clutha's home of sport and recreation

Wanaka Recreation Centre complements the community’s rich sporting culture and rapid growth in population.

The smoke-free complex has already become a hub for community sports, events and programmes, with several QLDC-managed social sport leagues. Whether you want to swim laps, soak in the hot pool, shoot a few hoops, hold a tournament or arrange weekly training, the 'Rec' offers a variety of options and equipment to suit locals and visitors alike.

The indoor stadium and outdoor artificial turf can be configured for netball, basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, futsal and hockey. Two grass sports fields are available for football and running and the three-pool swimming facility shares the main entrance and reception area.

There is scope for further development as the community's needs change and grow in the future.

Wanaka Recreation Centre is located at 41, Sir Tim Wallis Drive off Ballantyne Road. Turn left after the McKeown CardFuel station (marked with a yellow sign) as you head away from Wanaka town centre. There will eventually also be access from SH84. Lots of free parking is available on site.
