Learn to Climb
Our qualified climbing instructors can help you discover the excitement and thrill of climbing, teaching you the basics in a safe environment.
They’ll teach you how to belay - which is how to keep your climbing partner safe while they ascend the wall - and help you develop your climbing skills and style, as you progress through our graded climbing wall. Once you gain a Rockatipu Climbing Wall Belay Licence, you’ll be free to climb without instructor supervision. Your safety is paramount and all instructors hold a minimum qualification of New Zealand Outdoor Instructor Association Rock Level 1, or similar foreign equivalent.
You can learn to climb at our drop in lessons, occurring every weekday evening. Our team provide a safe, positive environment for learning to climb. These lessons are included free of charge with your entry fee and there is no need to book.
Introduce your child to rock climbing in a safe and fun environment, with our Kids' Climbing Lessons. We offer lessons across four levels, teaching a variety of skills and techniques to build confidence, strength and fitness, including mental skills.
Our courses are structured around the skill level for children aged 8-12 years, although children of other ages can have a prior assessment to test their capabilities. Please contact Tash Falk to discuss this option: firstname.lastname@example.org or 03 450 9129.
