Upper Clutha's home of sport and recreation
Wanaka Recreation Centre complements the community’s rich sporting culture and rapid growth in population.
The smoke-free complex has already become a hub for community sports, events and programmes, with several QLDC-managed social sport leagues. Whether you want to shoot a few hoops, hold a tournament or arrange weekly training, the 'Rec' offers a variety of options and equipment to suit locals and visitors alike.
The indoor stadium and outdoor artificial turf can be configured for netball, basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, futsal and hockey. Two grass sports fields will be ready early in 2018 with a brand new swimming pool complex to open soon after next to the main stadium building.
There is scope for further development as the community's needs change and grow in the future.
Wanaka Recreation Centre is located at Three Parks. The driveway is off Sir Tim Wallis Drive - turn left after the McKeown CardFuel station on Ballantyne Road. There will eventually also be access from SH84. Lots of free parking is available on site.
