Long distance triathlete
Originally residing from the deep south, Adam first moved to Queenstown for the winters. After years of following the snow and bouncing between Colorado and Queenstown, he settled in Queenstown in 2009. Finally landed with a summer, Adam needed to find something to fill the void of missing the northern winters; triathlon ended up being the perfect distraction. After swimming for a team in the 2010 Paradise Tri and following this up a year later with his first Half Ironman, Adam now competes regularly.
After winning the overall Challenge Wanaka age group title in 2015 I refocused my goals on trying to qualify for the Ironman World Champs. In preparation for Ironman New Zealand (Qualification race for the Ironman Worlds) I defended my Southland Triathlon title in Gore, breaking my course record from 2014 and placing 3rd (30-34 age group) at the Taupo 70.3, in the process qualifying for the 70.3 World Champs. In March I competed in my first Ironman New Zealand and set my personal best of 9hrs 14mins over the Ironman distance. In the process I placed 3rd in the 30-34 age group and booked my spot at the Ironman World Champs at Kona, Hawaii.
Currently training for:
The Ironman double. Ironman 70.3 worlds on the Sunshine Coast, Australia and the Ironman world champs in Kona, Hawaii in October.
