Supervised Training Environment
Don't think of Barbell Club as a high intensity, hardcore, group training programme. Think of Barbell Club as an opportunity for you to refine your weightlifting technique, develop your strength and general conditioning by focusing on fundamental movements.
Barbell Club is here to coach and support you, developing your skills to help you move independently, grow confidence and self-direction within this sport, while understanding your limits and abilities.
Our drop-in sessions are ideal for those seeking medium to advanced level training and anyone interested in competitive weightlifting. However we are extremely welcoming of beginners and novices, with a special lightweight "technique" bar and plates that are perfect for teaching at this level.

|Each Saturday, 1pm - 5pm||Free||$5/session|
Our drop-in sessions are led by Laurel Hubbard, former national champion who is dedicated to building a supportive weightlifting network in Queenstown. Laurel has been involved in weightlifting for over twenty years and is excited to provide a safe, educational environment for you to train in. Whether you would like coaching advice and tips, or purely to train independently with our world class equipment, we encourage you to come along to a Barbell Club drop-in session. You're welcome to bring your PT or coach along too.
Barbell Club coaching is based on traditional exercises, using barbells and special rubberised bumper plates that are designed to be dropped safely. We have both men's and women's barbells.
Who can come?
Anyone aged 16+ years is welcome to attend Barbell Club drop-in sessions at Alpine Health & Fitness. It's not just for men either, we encourage women to come along too. Best of all it's free for Alpine Health & Fitness members, and only $5/session for non-members. See you there!
